Mummy's Yummies

Your baby is here and you are ready to get yourself back... but where do you start?

Things to keep in mind...

Start slow: don’t feel pressured to get up and exercise right away, first of all, too strenuous an exercise is dangerous right after giving birth and secondly, giving birth is like running a marathon; you just finished on of the craziest workouts known to man!

Monitor how you feel: In my opinion, when you should start exercising is completely individual depending on how you feel. I took my first walk about 3 days after Dylan was born – it was a walk around the block.

Be patient: Like with anything, losing weight/getting back in shape takes time so be patient and celebrate the small milestones.

Calories in, calories out: getting back to your pre baby self is a time and numbers game. Breastfeeding alone burns between 200 to 500 calories per day, so there isn’t really a need to ‘get your sweat’ on immediately after giving birth. A balanced diet paired with light exercise (a relaxing walk about your neighbourhood) should get the weight loss ball rolling..
